The sustainability commitments of The Northwest Seaport Alliance have earned Inbound Logistics’ 75 Green Supply Chain Partner honors for the fourth consecutive year.

The Northwest Seaport Alliance handled 240,671 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in May 2020, a 23.8% decrease compared to May 2019.

The Northwest Seaport Alliance handled 247,675 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in April 2020 as total container volumes declined 23.5% year over year.

The West Seattle high bridge closure remains top of mind for all of us at the Port Commission. <p>The COVID-19 virus is causing an outbreak of a pneumonia-type illness in the city of Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. This outbreak began in early December 2019 and continues to expand in scope and magnitude. On Jan. 30, 2020, the <a href="https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019">World Health Organization</a> declared the virus outbreak a global health emergency.</p>

<p>The Northwest Seaport Alliance was contacted Wednesday, March 25, after an employee of Wallenius Wilhelmsen Industrial Tacoma (WWIT) heavy-equipment processing center tested positive for COVID-19. The employee was last at work on March 20 and has since been in self-quarantine.</p>

<p>Keeping the health, safety, and well-being of the public and our workforce is the top priority for The Northwest Seaport Alliance. Each of our terminals has modified its business continuity plan in response to the rapidly evolving nature of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The NWSA and our supply chain partners are also focused on mitigation efforts to slow the spread of the virus.</p>
