In addition to continued Freight Alert emails about road closures, WSDOT is now offering text message alerts for frequent Interstate 90 travelers. Events such as major collisions, anything causing more than a 30-minute backup, pass closures, heavy snow forecast events and avalanche control work, just to name a few, will be sent to your phone.

Here's how to sign up:

  1. Click this link
  2. Select “SMS/Text Message” as your subscription type
  3. Enter your cell phone number
  4. Confirm your number and enter an optional password
  5. Select the topic: I-90 Snoqualmie Pass Travel Alerts

Or just send a text to sign up:

  1. Send a text message to the number 468311 with the words “wsdot snoqualmie”
  2. To unsubscribe, send a text message to the same number with the words “wsdot stop”

This doesn't replace the email Freight Alerts, but it does give frequent I-90 drivers another option for alerts. As always, please do not text or read texts while driving.

Our free WSDOT phone app is a helpful tool as well, and drivers can also follow us on Twitter @wsdot_east or @snowqualmiepass.
