Updated at 1 p.m.:

All lanes of I-5 in Tacoma are OPEN! NB Exit 136 A & B remain closed. SB Exit 136 remains open to Port of Tacoma Road.

Update at 11 a.m.: 

Both directions of Interstate 5 in Tacoma and Fife are closed due to an overturned semi that is leaking fuel near Port of Tacoma Road. 

  • Southbound I-5 traffic is being diverted at 54th Ave / Exit 137 in Fife to State Route 509.
  • Northbound I-5 traffic is being diverted at Portland Avenue Exit in Tacoma to State Route 167.

There is no ETA on when I-5 will reopen. Please avoid the area and delay your trips

Original post at 10:30 a.m.: Both directions of I-5 near Port of Tacoma Road are closed due to an overturned tanker truck that is leaking. Avoid the area.
