The Washington Department of Agriculture announced the final gypsy moth treatment is scheduled for Saturday, April 30, for the Port of Tacoma (low elevations).

The weather-dependent treatment is scheduled to be done by 9 a.m. Expect low flying aircraft.

Some terminal operations may be impacted. Please contact the South Harbor’s marine terminals for their operations status:

The gypsy moth is a highly invasive threat to the environment, and several European and Asian gypsy moths were trapped in western Washington last year. WSDA is treating seven sites, including Tacoma, with a naturally-occurring biological insecticide to eradicate the gypsy moth. Each site must be treated at least three times. Treatments are weather-dependent and will continue through mid-May.
