The week ending in June 20 saw mixed results, though all metrics were down compared to the June 2024 weekly average. International imports increased 15.4% from the previous week, though were down 16.3% from the June 2024 weekly average. Truck transactions dipped 9.1% week over week and were down 20.8% compared to the June 2024 weekly average. Vessel lifts, which includes exports and empties in addition to international imports, were up slightly, 3.8% week over week, but down slightly compared to the June 2024 weekly average, 5.7%.

Preliminary data indicates that last week, the week ending in June 27, will be the busiest or second busiest import week this year. While volumes have been increasing in June over May’s lows, the increase will likely not exceed the June 2024 weekly average because June is typically a busier month for the gateway. Looking forward we also expect that recorded week to be the peak of the ‘surge’ anticipated when the 145% tariff rate with China was paused.
