FROM WSDOT: Electrical work on the SR 167 Completion Project will require closing all lanes of State Route 509 in Tacoma at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, June 30.
The highway will be closed in both directions between Alexander Avenue East and Taylor Way. Contractor crews working for the Washinton State Department of Transportation will reopen the highway at 4 a.m. Tuesday, July 1. The closure allows crews to remove an existing power pole between northbound and southbound SR 509 at the Alexander Avenue East intersection.
Drivers will be detoured off SR 509 at Alexander Avenue East and Taylor Way. Drivers are encouraged to make alternative plans and use caution while following detour routes.
